Thank you, Guardian readers! With your support, we can do more.

We are reaching out to you, our loyal readers, asking for your continued support. Your contributions, big or small, will allow us to advance our efforts.

Dear Readers,

Thank you for starting your week with us.

When the Worcester Guardian launched six months ago our mission was to provide independent, free digital news to City residents.

Today, we believe in that mission more than ever and if you share that belief, we are asking you to please support our efforts with a tax-deductible donation.

It is hard to believe but on Sept. 25, we published our first of over 400 stories. Topics have included City Hall and politics, K-12 and higher education, music and arts, restaurants, sports and recreation, local businesses and organizations, community and more.

Our daily newsletters are reaching nearly 8,000 readers every day, and our website and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and X/Twitter) have been visited over 200,000 times.

Charlene Arsenault, a veteran journalist with nearly 30 years of experience, is our editor. She’s working with Dave Nordman, our lead consultant and the former executive editor of the Telegram & Gazette.

The founding members of our board of directors are Timothy M. Loew, John W. Rodriguez, Giovanni S. Blue, Christina M. Andreoli, Joseph W. Kahoro, Carl A. Herrin, Mary Beth Burke, Timothy P. Murray and Emily P. Trevallion.

Most recently, we announced an exciting community partnership with Worcester State to provide student internships, strengthen the university’s growing journalism program and expand our news coverage.

That followed the Internal Revenue Service granting the Guardian tax-exempt status, allowing us to receive tax-deductible donations. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the generosity of our readers and supporters to keep our operations running.

Early supporters include Fallon Health, Unibank, Dewey Square Group, Synergy, Worcester State, Schwartz Charitable Foundation, and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce foundation.

We thank them and all who have made contributions on our website.

And, all of this is happening as the Guardian delivers high-quality, local journalism that informs, engages and empowers our readers. In an era where misinformation runs rampant, the role of news outlets like ours has never been more crucial.

That is why we are reaching out to you now, asking for your continued support. Your contributions, big or small, will allow us to advance our efforts.

With your support, we can do more. Once again, thank you.
