WooSox close season with ’12 days,’ fan appreciation finale

From specialty uniform reveals to “shirts off their backs,” the final homestand swings into high gear and wraps up with a season-ending fan party

WORCESTER—As the Worcester Red Sox head into their final stretch of home games, their “12 Days of WooSox” promotion is serving up an all-out thank-you to fans. The series began with a six-game set against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and leads into a full week of “Fan Appreciation Week,” concluding on Sunday, Sept. 21.

On that finale, fans get to mingle with players before the game and go home wearing the “shirts off their backs” afterward. Kids can circle the bases before the game and everyone’s invited for a “Sunset Catch” in the outfield—presented by Planet Fitness.

President Dr. Charles Steinberg noted, “More people have packed the park per game than last year and even the year before that… we appreciate that fans are coming in increasing numbers in our fifth year and are helping us to make Polar Park better than ever.”

Leading up to the big send-off, each of the next three days—starting Friday, Sept. 5—is devoted to revealing a specialty ’26 uniform design, with themes kept under wraps until “caps are unwrapped,” as Executive Vice President/GM Brooke Cooper teased in an announcement: “Ocean State fans might look for a tip of the cap to a Rhode Island delicacy, Worcester natives can get a chuckle about their infamous intersection and everyone can appreciate our region’s walls of art.”

Fans still have plenty to look forward to during the homestand. On Wednesday, Sept. 4, former Red Sox outfielder Bernie Carbo greets fans and the WooSox celebrates Polish Heritage Night by suiting up as the “Wicked Worms of Worcester” with a “Wicked Awesome” fireworks soundtrack.

The fun continues Friday, Sept. 6, with a sunrise yoga session on the field and the latest installment of the “Great Polar Park Writers Series,” honoring the late Larry Lucchino with reflections from friends and collaborators. That same day is Childhood Cancer Awareness Day, when the WooSox invite fans to “Go Gold” in support of the cause.

The weekend wraps with a Sunday Funday presented by Fallon Health, including kids running the bases and another edition of “Purr in the Park,” which lets fans bring their cats along for the game. On Monday, Sept. 8, the annual Police vs. Firefighters Baseball Game will return, beginning with a procession from St. John’s Church and raising funds for the WooSox Foundation.

When finals wrap on Sept. 21, the final homestand week promises an array of gifts, presents and prizes still to be announced.
