Summer may be winding down, but Worcester residents have one more week to squeeze in a trip to the pool.
Crompton Park Pool will remain open through Aug. 29, a week later than originally planned, the city’s Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Department announced Tuesday.
The pool had been scheduled to close for the season on Saturday, Aug. 22. The extension gives residents another option for cooling off as August heads toward its final weekend.
The extra week does not extend the season at the city’s beaches, which are scheduled to close Aug. 22.
Worcester’s spray parks will stick around a little longer. Facilities at East Park, Greenwood Park, University Park and Tacoma Street Playground are scheduled to remain open through Labor Day, Sept. 7.
The announcement comes near the end of Worcester’s summer recreation season, when swimming areas and other water facilities begin closing as lifeguard availability and seasonal operations wind down.
City officials reminded residents to swim only at locations where lifeguards are on duty and to use caution around waterfront areas.
Information about Worcester’s pools, beaches and spray parks, including locations and operating information, is available through the city’s Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Department.
