Worcester man dies in Westborough motorcycle crash

Authorities say 24-year-old rider struck a light pole base behind Speedway Plaza; investigation ongoing

WORCESTER—A Worcester man died last week following a motorcycle crash in Westborough that remains under investigation, according to the Westborough Police Department.

The Worcester County DA’s office confirmed to MetroWest Daily News the victim as Juan Carlos Colon, Jr., 26.

Emergency crews responded just after noon on Monday, June 23, to the rear driveway of Speedway Plaza at 290 Turnpike Road for reports of a motorcycle accident. When they arrived, first responders found the 24-year-old male operator unresponsive in a grassy area next to the driveway.

Preliminary findings suggest the motorcycle was traveling westbound before it left the paved surface and collided with the concrete base of a light pole. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, police said.

Paramedics from the Westborough Fire Department began advanced life-saving measures on scene and transported the rider to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He later died from his injuries.

Westborough Police’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash in collaboration with the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. No further details have been released at this time.
