Worcester man gets life sentence in 2019 Fitchburg killing

Mugisha Jeanbosco, 27, was convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery in the death of Leon Wilson Jr.

WORCESTER — A Worcester man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2019 killing of 23-year-old Leon Wilson Jr. in Fitchburg, according to a release from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Mugisha Jeanbosco, 27, was convicted of first-degree murder by a Worcester Superior Court jury last week following a multiday trial. The conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life without the possibility of parole.

Jeanbosco was also convicted of armed robbery. Judge Karin Bell sentenced him to 25 to 30 years on that charge, to be served concurrently with the life sentence.

The charges stem from a fatal incident on July 11, 2019, in the area of Pie Alley in Fitchburg.

Two others — Jason Robinson, 39, of Fitchburg, and Jonathan Baez, 25, of Worcester — have also been charged in connection with the killing. Each was arraigned in March 2020 on charges of armed robbery and accessory after the fact of murder. Both are scheduled to appear in Worcester Superior Court on August 25.

“It is my hope that this verdict helps bring some closure to Leon’s family and loved ones,” said District Attorney Early in the release. “I want to thank Assistant District Attorneys Brett Dillon and Shayna Woodard, Victim Witness Advocate Kayley Jones, the Fitchburg Police Department, and State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office for their hard work on this case.”
