WORCESTER—The City of Worcester Department of Transportation and Mobility has launched a public survey to gather feedback on a proposal to reduce the citywide speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph and create 20 mph safety zones in sensitive areas around the city.

The City Council Traffic and Parking Committee has conducted five hearings on the proposal, one in each council district. Residents can still learn about the proposal and the importance of safe speeds by viewing the presentation.

Given that road safety impacts everyone, the city encourages residents to participate in an online survey to provide their input on the proposal.

“The Department of Transportation and Mobility is working extremely hard to improve the accessibility of our roads and ensure that all roadway users are safe and comfortable traveling throughout the city,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista in a statement. “This is a great opportunity for residents to share their feedback as we work to achieve Vision Zero and eliminate fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways.”
