Worcester schedules overnight water work

Residents urged to conserve water during filtration plant maintenance this month

WORCESTER—Worcester residents may notice brief changes in water pressure during three overnight periods this month as the city conducts maintenance at its water filtration plant.

City officials announced that essential maintenance work takes place between midnight and 4 a.m. on April 9, April 16 and April 23. The work is intended to improve the function and reliability of the municipal water system, according to a city announcement.

During those four-hour windows, residents may experience a temporary drop in water pressure or, in some cases, a brief loss of water service. Officials said water service is expected to return to normal following each maintenance period.

The city is asking residents and businesses to conserve water during the scheduled work, avoiding high-usage activities such as laundry, dishwashing, and other water-intensive tasks whenever possible. Officials also encouraged critical and large water users to take appropriate precautions during the maintenance windows.

The work is scheduled during overnight hours to minimize disruptions, according to the announcement, with each maintenance period spaced one week apart.

City officials said the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve Worcester’s water infrastructure and system reliability.
