The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce has promoted two longtime staff members to expanded leadership roles overseeing relationships with businesses and affiliated chambers across the region.
Virginia Murphy, who has been with the chamber for more than a decade, has been promoted to director of affiliate partnerships, while Stefanie Silva has been named vice president of partnerships and member engagement, the organization announced Monday.
The promotions give both women broader responsibilities in areas central to the chamber’s work with businesses throughout Central Massachusetts, from supporting affiliate chambers to strengthening membership and sponsorship relationships.
Murphy joined the Worcester Regional Chamber in 2014. In her new position, she will oversee the organization’s work with its affiliate chambers, providing support and resources and helping strengthen partnerships with the business communities they represent.
“Virginia’s years of service to the Chamber have given her a tremendous understanding of our organization, our affiliates, and the communities we serve,” Chamber President and CEO Tim Murray said in the announcement. “Her dedication, institutional knowledge, and commitment to supporting our partners make her well suited to take on this expanded role.”
Silva, who joined the Chamber in 2021, previously served as director of programs and events, working on programming and the organization’s relationships with its members.
As vice president of partnerships and member engagement, Silva will take on a larger leadership role focused on developing sponsorship revenue, increasing member engagement and creating opportunities for businesses through their Chamber memberships.
“She is a respected member of the team and approaches each member, program, and challenge with the dependability, reliability and steady commitment,” Murray said in the release. “We look forward to seeing her continue that work in this expanded leadership role.”
Charran Fisher, chair of the chamber’s board, said in the announcement that the promotions reflect the contributions both women have made to the organization.
“The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce is strengthened by talented people dedicated to advancing our mission and serving our businesses,” Fisher said. “Stefanie Silva and Virginia Murphy are two outstanding women whose leadership and commitment continues to make a meaningful impact on our work here at the Chamber.”
