WORCESTER—Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) have struck a new transfer agreement, creating a smooth pathway for MWCC students aiming to continue their education in STEM fields at WPI. Effective immediately, this partnership guarantees MWCC students with an associate degree, a 3.3 GPA or higher, and completion of specific math and science courses, automatic admission to WPI’s prestigious programs.

Students who haven’t yet completed their associate degree but meet certain academic criteria, including a 3.0 GPA and coursework in calculus and a lab science, may also be considered for transfer to WPI.

MWCC President James Vander Hooven highlighted the significance of this collaboration, calling it a “remarkable opportunity” for students to advance their careers in high-demand fields with WPI’s renowned resources. WPI President Grace Wang echoed this, emphasizing the shared commitment to fostering a diverse and talented student body.

Once admitted, transfer students will benefit from dedicated advising, career development resources, and summer research opportunities at WPI. They’ll also participate in a semester-long transition program and receive tuition waivers for summer courses, with further opportunities for graduate studies available.
