WORCESTER—Berkshire Bank employees rolled up their sleeves across Central Massachusetts earlier this month, volunteering with local nonprofits as part of the company’s annual “Xtraordinary Week” of community service.

During the week of June 9–13, 700 employees from Berkshire Bank took part in more than 35 projects in five states. In Worcester County, that included work with the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, the New England Botanic Garden in Boylston, the Ron Burton Training Village in Hubbardston, and the United Way of Tri-County’s WHEAT Community Café in Clinton.

The weeklong service push, known as “X Week,” is part of the bank’s XTEAM Employee Volunteer and Giving Program, which encourages staff to support causes in the communities where they live and work.

“Giving back is a core part of who we are as a company because we believe that lasting impact starts with local action,” said Lori Kiely, managing director of the Berkshire Bank Foundation, in the announcement. “Throughout X Week, our employees helped build stronger, more resilient communities — and stronger connections with one another.”

Berkshire Bank employees contributed more than 11,500 volunteer hours through 250 company-sponsored service projects in 2024 alone. The company also provides every employee with up to 16 hours of paid time off annually to volunteer with nonprofits of their choice.
