WORCESTER—Two Worcester County nonprofits are inviting residents to dust off their low-rise jeans and relive the Y2K era—all in the name of supporting local families and children.
CASA Project Worcester County and Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester are teaming up to host “fundRAVER,” a themed dance party set for March 7 at Electric Haze in the Canal District. Organizers say the event will double as a fundraiser benefiting both organizations’ work in the region.
The 7-11 p.m. event features a live DJ set by Central MA Productions, New York-style pizza from Homie Slice, complimentary Deep Eddy Vodka signature cocktails, and era-inspired accessories designed to evoke the 1970s through the early 2000s.
All proceeds support CASA Project Worcester County, which recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for children involved in the child welfare system, and Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester, which helps local families achieve first-time homeownership.
“FundRAVER is one of the many ways CASA combines impactful fundraising with having a great time,” Julie Bowditch, executive director of CASA, said in an announcement about the event. “This event aims to bring our community together around shared nostalgia while supporting two missions that matter deeply in our region. We are grateful to everyone who helps turn that energy into meaningful support for local youth and families.”
Julie Davenport, president of Habitat’s board of directors and a founding committee member of fundRAVER, said the event is designed to blend entertainment with purpose.
“FundRAVER is proof that you can turn back the clock, relive the good ol’ days and still make a real impact today,” Davenport said in the announcement. “We’re excited to bring the community together for a night that delivers both unforgettable memories and meaningful impact which supports the incredible work of Habitat and CASA.”
Organizers said the event is expected to surpass its $12,000 fundraising goal.
Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester serves families earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income who do not qualify for other homeownership programs. CASA Project Worcester County works to ensure children in foster care have safe, permanent homes and the opportunity to thrive.
