WORCESTER—The city’s 2025 trash and recycling schedule is here, and it’s time to plan ahead for holiday-related delays.
If your collection day falls on a holiday, expect a one-day delay for the remainder of the week.
Here’s what you need to know:
Holidays with delays:
- New Year’s Day – Jan. 1
- Memorial Day – May 26
- Juneteenth – June 19
- Independence Day – July 4
- Labor Day – Sept. 1
- Thanksgiving Day – Nov. 27
- Christmas Day – Dec. 25
Holidays without delays:
- MLK, Jr. Day – Jan. 20
- Presidents’ Day – Feb. 17
- Patriots’ Day – April 21
- Columbus/Indigenous Peoples’ Day – Oct. 13
- Veterans Day – Nov. 11
Residents are reminded to set out trash and recycling between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on their scheduled day.
Christmas tree disposal:
Worcester residents can drop off Christmas trees from Dec. 26, 2024, through Jan. 12, 2025, at the following locations and times:
- 1065 Millbury St. (next to the VFW Post)
- 300 Chandler St. (across from Foley Stadium)
- 299 Clark St. (near East Mountain St. intersection)
Drop-Off Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sundays (Millbury Street location only): 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Note that drop-off sites will be closed on Jan. 1, 2025, for New Year’s Day.
