WORCESTER—Don’t worry about feeding the meter or getting a ticket (for not doing so) this holiday season in the city.
Worcester is making holiday shopping and cultural events more accessible with free parking on Saturdays from Nov. 30 to Dec. 28. The initiative is designed to promote local businesses and engage the community during the busy holiday season.
Starting on Small Business Saturday (Nov. 30), all on-street metered spots across Worcester and municipal surface lots on Green, Water, and Millbury streets are free on Saturdays. Union Station Garage also offers free parking on Dec. 7.
City officials emphasized the economic benefits of shopping locally. “When Worcester residents shop small this holiday season, they support not just individual businesses but an entire supply chain of local distributors,” said Batista in a press release.
Worcester boasts a vibrant mix of independent retailers, restaurants, and cultural attractions that provide a wide variety of goods, services, and entertainment year-round.
