WORCESTER—Holy Cross soccer standouts Jonathan Klein and Marcus Williams have been named to the 2024 Academic All-Patriot League men’s soccer team, the Patriot League conference office announced. This esteemed recognition highlights their exceptional performance both athletically and academically throughout the season.
To qualify for the Academic All-Patriot League team, student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and maintain sophomore academic standing, while also being a starter or key reserve on their team. Both Klein and Williams surpassed these criteria with their contributions to the Holy Cross Crusaders.
Klein, a senior midfielder, has been a consistent performer for the Crusaders earning Academic All-Patriot League honors in 2022 and 2023 as well. This season, Klein participated in all 18 games, starting 16 and logging 1,233 minutes on the field. He concluded the season as the team’s second-highest scorer with eight points, including two goals and four assists.
Over his collegiate career, Klein has accumulated nine goals and 13 assists across 69 games. Academically, he excels with a 3.87 GPA in accounting.
Williams, also a senior midfielder, previously received Academic All-Patriot League recognition in 2022. Williams maintained an impressive presence on the field, appearing in all 18 games, starting 16, and playing a total of 1,427 minutes. He ranked third on the team with seven points from three goals and one assist. Throughout his Holy Cross tenure, Williams has scored five goals and provided eight assists in 54 games. His academic achievements are equally notable, boasting a 3.91 GPA in biology.
Despite a challenging season that saw Holy Cross finish with an overall record of 4-9-5 and a 3-3-3 mark in Patriot League conference games, the academic and athletic excellence of Klein and Williams stood out.
