WORCESTER—Board Chair Joseph Scardino, Esq. has received the prestigious Community Health Center Board Member Award from the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers (Mass League), the Family Health Center of Worcester (FHCW) announced. The award was presented to Scardino at the Annual Awards Gala on Friday, June 7, at The Westin Copley Place in Boston.
The Mass League Annual Awards Gala, the largest yearly gathering of community health centers in the Commonwealth, celebrates the commitment, innovation, and success of health centers across the state. This event recognizes the efforts of workforce members and organizations that play a critical role in this achievement.
Scardino joined the FHCW Board in June 2003 and has served for 20 continuous years. In October 2020, he became board chair and is currently serving his fourth term in this position. Scardino’s journey with FHCW began as an HR attorney at Fletcher Tilton, where he provided crucial HR consulting services, playing a key role in establishing FHCW’s Human Resources department.
Scardino has remained a dedicated leader and vocal advocate for FHCW and consistently contributes to the organization’s annual fundraiser, Art in the City.

Scardino said while accepting the award, “I am honored to receive this award. It represents my lifelong dedication to the mission of Family Health Center of Worcester. While this award bears my name, the honor truly goes to the hundreds of hardworking staff members at Family Health Center who provide high-quality healthcare to over 30,000 patients in 78 languages each year.”
“Joe Scardino has been an invaluable member of our team,” said Lou Brady, CEO of Family Health Center of Worcester, in a statement. “His unwavering commitment and leadership have significantly contributed to our success in providing comprehensive healthcare services to our diverse patient population.
