Worcester firefighters promoted, honored at City Hall ceremony

Deputy chief, district chiefs, captains, and lieutenants sworn in as members also recognized for Coes Pond rescue

WORCESTER — The city recognized the promotions of 14 members of the Worcester Fire Department during a ceremony at City Hall on Sept. 24.

The event, held in the Levi Lincoln Room, celebrated promotions ranging from deputy chief to lieutenant. District Chief William Mosley was promoted to deputy chief, while Captains Scott Armstrong and Evan Jones were promoted to district chiefs.

Lieutenants Christopher Paul, John O’Brien, and Michael McTigue were elevated to the rank of captain. Firefighters Michael Dio, Ramon Rodriguez, Brian Boucher, Connor Lamoureux, Timothy Fontaine, Ryan Sandstrom, Justin Pike, and Samuel Dahrooge were all promoted to lieutenant.

In addition to the promotions, members of Ladder 4, Group 3 were recognized with citations for their actions during a dive rescue at Coes Pond on May 23. Lieutenant Timothy O’Rourke and Firefighters Joseph Flood, Heath Tisdale, and Brandon Knox were honored for their professionalism and bravery during the incident.

City officials joined firefighters and their families in marking the accomplishments.
