33 Worcester runners set for Boston Marathon

Thirty-three Worcester residents are set to run the 130th Boston Marathon on April 20, joining more than 30,000 athletes on the historic Hopkinton-to-Boston course.

WORCESTER—The Boston Marathon is more than just a race — it’s a test of endurance, determination and heart. For many runners, it marks a personal milestone, honors loved ones or supports causes close to home.

On Monday, April 20, 33 Worcester residents are set to lace up their running shoes and take on the historic 26.2-mile course from Hopkinton to Boston as part of the 130th Boston Marathon, presented by Bank of America.

This year’s race features approximately 30,000 runners from 137 countries and all 50 states, according to the Boston Athletic Association. Nearly 4,700 Massachusetts residents are expected to participate, including a strong contingent from Worcester.

Among the thousands of athletes tackling the world’s oldest annual marathon, Worcester’s runners navigate the famed Newton Hills, push through Heartbreak Hill and make their way down Beacon Street before crossing the iconic Boylston Street finish line.
