WORCESTER —Love takes center stage during “An Evening of Italian Opera,” a program organized by composer and musical director Leonardo Ciampa as part of the “Music for a Great Hall” series at Mechanics Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

The show covers some of the greatest arias and duets in the Italian repertoire—from Bel Canto to Verismo to Verdi.  Soloists include tenor Christon Carney, tenor Giovanni Formisano, soprano Elizabeth Keusch, soprano Olga Lisovskaya, baritone Michael Meraw, and soprano Letitia Stevens.  Italian charcuterie and wine are available for purchase.

Composer, organist, and pianist Leonardo Ciampa is a virtuoso musician of international renown. A native of Boston, he was Mechanics Hall’s Composer-in-Residence 2021-2023. In addition, he is director of music at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Worcester, Massachusetts, since 2019 and as Maestro di Cappella Onorario of the Basilica in Gubbio, Italy, since 2015.

Reminder that this is a pretty romantic choice for Valentine’s Day (week) entertainment.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Floor, table, and balcony seating is available. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors. Children aged 12 and under are free; however, a reserved ticket is required for entry. Tickets can be purchased at mechanicshall.org.
