Assumption’s nursing program accredited, 100% pass rate

WORCESTER—Assumption University’s Froelich School of Nursing’s baccalaureate degree nursing program has been officially accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the school recently announced.

The accreditation comes off the heels of announcing that 100 percent of the NCLEX-RN program passed the inaugural class.

“The CCNE site evaluation team joined us April 3-5, 2023 to validate the self-study report that the school submitted on February 1, 2023,” said Dean of the Froelich School of Nursing Caitlin Stover in a statement. “Professional accreditation is a laborious process that is months in the making. It is a team process requiring all faculty, staff, and students to be articulate in each standard. I am proud of the commitment each individual made to making this a successful process.”

Professional accreditation is highly important to the nursing program, as it is a quality improvement process that, once awarded to a program, indicates that the university and the program are committed to providing a high-quality nursing education, continues the announcement.

The accreditation process takes into consideration many facets of a nursing program, including the congruence between the institution and the nursing program; physical, academic, and clinical resources and facilities; faculty credentials and experience; and other data points such as NCLEX-RN pass rates, graduation rates, and employment rates.

“Receiving this accreditation opens up more opportunities for us as students,” said Kerry Hirsch, a nursing major from the class of 2025, in a statement. “Being officially accredited allows us to continue our education after we receive our degrees from Assumption and opens the door to more job opportunities in the field of nursing.”
