WORCESTER—Another Worcester restaurant has announced it’s closing its doors. The barbecue joint Black Sheep Bah-Bah-Q & Kitchen on Chandler Street is closing permanently, according to a Facebook post on Monday, May 20.

“Thank you all so much for supporting us here at Black Sheep,” wrote owner Patrick Flynn. “Unfortunately we will be closing our doors permanently. We will miss seeing all of your smiling faces and can’t thank you enough for the support.”

The closing won’t come as a surprise to those who have been following the news. Black Sheep made valiant efforts to boost business through social media and consistently offered a lineup of musical acts, earning praise from many musicians for having one of the best stages and acoustics in the area.

Officially opened at 397 Chandler St. in February 2023, Black Sheep had previously operated as a seasonal food truck in Spencer.

Reaching out to Flynn for comment, he told the Guardian, “[We are] already closed. I blame people like you who just kept on saying they would come in, but never did.”

Unfortunately, it’s a familiar tale, and Black Sheep will soon be among the beloved venues people remember fondly when asked, “What do you miss around Worcester?”
