Cooling centers, water available, Thursday and Friday

City officials are alerting the public to cooling centers that are open on Thursday and Friday in Worcester

WORCESTER—In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s still really hot out there.

Due to a high heat index Thursday and Friday, the City of Worcester is offering several cooling centers for residents.

Below is a schedule of hours and locations. Each facility has a supply of water on hand for distribution. 

Thursday, Aug. 1

  • Worcester Public Library (Main Branch) – 3 Salem Square | Noon to 5:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Public Library (Frances Perkins Branch) – 470 West Boylston St. | Noon to 8:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Senior Center – 128 Providence St. | Noon to 4:30 p.m.
  • Worcester 311 Customer Service Center – 799 Main St. | Noon to 7 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 2

  • Worcester Public Library (Main Branch) – 3 Salem Square | 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Public Library (Frances Perkins Branch) – 470 West Boylston St. |

10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • Worcester Senior Center – 128 Providence St. | 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Worcester 311 Customer Service Center – 799 Main St. | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

City officials remind residents that prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity impact the body’s natural cooling systems and can lead to elevated body temperature and risk of illness.
