WORCESTER— The city’s Department of Emergency Communications and Management has secured a $3.2 million grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the State 911 Department.
This funding will be allocated to purchase and implement a new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and record management system (RMS). The grant is part of the Fiscal Year 2025 State 911 Department Regional Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Emergency Communications Center Development Grant Program, which aims to enhance the development and startup of public safety answering points or regional emergency communication centers to optimize 9-1-1 services.
“The impact of this grant is truly remarkable,” said Department of Emergency Communications and Management Commissioner Charles Goodwin in a press release. “A new CAD/RMS system will streamline operations and result in more efficient work and data-tracking. We are incredibly grateful for this award from the State 911 Department and Healey-Driscoll administration.”
