CHARLTON—One person was killed and another was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle crash on Route 20, according to authorities.
The crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. on March 31, when Charlton police responded to reports of a collision involving two vehicles, according to a release from the Charlton Police Department.
The operator of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. The driver of the second vehicle was transported by LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities did not immediately release the identities of those involved, pending notification of family members.
The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, along with the Charlton Police Department, State Police Crime Scene Services, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to the release.
No additional details about the circumstances of the crash were immediately available.
