WORCESTER—A 71-year-old man was fatally injured in a pedestrian crash on Lake Avenue on Friday evening. Worcester police responded to the scene at approximately 5:15 p.m., near 265 Lake Ave, after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
When officers got there, they found the man suffering from severe injuries. A nurse who happened to be at the scene was providing medical assistance. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Worcester Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit was called in to investigate the incident. According to the preliminary investigation, the man had exited a bus and was crossing the road from east to west when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Lake Ave.
Police reported that the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation, and no further details were immediately available.
