Fitness in the Parks series kicks off Thursday

Shape up! Get healthy! The city’s offering residents a chance to jump in on some fitness and health programs

WORCESTER—Worcester officials, including Mayor Joe Petty and City Manager Eric Batista, joins the Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday, June 27, at 4 p.m. to launch the Fitness in the Parks Summer Series program.

This 12-week program, presented by the Department of Health and Human Services and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts in partnership with the YWCA of Central Massachusetts and YMCA of Central Massachusetts, runs from June 10 through Aug. 31, Monday through Saturday, at eight locations. The classes offered range from Zumba and sports skills training to HIIT and Yoga, all family-friendly.

The program aims to provide Worcester residents with opportunities to engage in healthy eating, active living, and community building.
