The Massachusetts Network of Foster Care Alumni (MassNFCA) celebrated its 14th annual Alumni Thanksgiving on Nov. 21, bringing more than 100 members together for a heartfelt holiday feast at the White Room in Worcester. This marked the first in-person celebration since the pandemic forced the event to go virtual in 2019.
“For many, the holiday season can feel especially isolating and difficult,” said MassNFCA Program Director Tiffanie Desrosiers in a statement. “We wanted to take this opportunity to offer connection, warmth, and support while bringing light into what can be an otherwise dark time.”

The nonprofit, based at the Judge Baker Center for Families and Children in Boston, supports foster youth and alumni through education, employment, and community-building initiatives.
State Rep. Paul J. Donato, a Medford foster care alumnus and MassNFCA board member, emphasized the importance of building connections: “I am just thrilled that we are continuing to reach out to young people to encourage them to become members of the alumni network, make new friends, and stay in touch.”

Alexia K., 19, a college student and regular participant in MassNFCA events, shared her gratitude for the gathering. “Everyone is happy to talk to each other, knowing we all have something in common,” she said.
The organization is seeking volunteers for its board of directors to help expand services across Massachusetts.
