It’s (still) a hot one; cooling centers, water available

Don’t let the heat get to you. If you should need it, Worcester’s got several cooling centers open on Wednesday

WORCESTER—With the heat index still high, the city is opening several cooling centers for residents to access on Wednesday, July 10.

Below is a schedule of hours and locations:

  • Worcester Public Library – Main Branch, 3 Salem Square, Open to 8:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Public Library – Francis Perkins Branch, 470 West Boylston St., Open to 5:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence St., Open to 4 p.m.

Each facility will have supplies of water on hand for distribution.

City officials remind residents that prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity impact the body’s natural cooling systems and can lead to elevated body temperature and risk of illness. Residents are advised to limit strenuous physical activity, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors.
