SUTTON—Emergency response teams from Sutton frantically searched for a four-year-old girl who had gone missing on Thursday afternoon after a 911 call around 3:40 p.m. With callouts for help on social media, police reported that the girl named Eva had gone missing from her home in the Peachtree Drive area.
A short time later, the girl was found unresponsive in a neighbor’s pool. She was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Worcester County DA’s office.
“The past 12 hours have been incredibly difficult for one of our families in town and our team of first responders,” according to a post on the Sutton Police Department’s Facebook page. “There are no words that we can offer to help ease the heartache our residents our feelings no. We are so incredibly sorry. We will not be speaking to the press, nor doing any on camera interviews out of respect for our family in town.”
