WORCESTER—Families in need will have another place to turn for Thanksgiving help next week, thanks to a community turkey giveaway that’s bringing together a Worcester city councilor, local organizers and two New England Patriots players.
The Turkey Classic organized by Worcester City Council Vice Chair Khrystian King in collaboration with Anthony Barbosa and Mahlon Williams, takes place Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 2 Chefs Restaurant, 317 West Boylston St.
Event organizers say the Patriots organization has donated 100 turkeys—each weighing about 20 pounds—for distribution. Williams helped secure the involvement of Patriots players Kyle Williams and Terrell Jennings, who are expected to attend and help hand out the turkeys.
The giveaway is aimed at families facing food insecurity during what can be a financially stressful holiday season. Organizers say they’re hoping to reach school-aged children and their families and are encouraging a strong community turnout.
The event is free and open to families in need.
