WORCESTER—Quinsigamond Community College Police Chief Stephen DiGiovanni has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Central Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, becoming the first collegiate police chief to hold an officer position within the regional organization, according to an announcement from the college.

DiGiovanni was sworn in earlier this month after being nominated to fill a vacant three-year term. He was elected by association members during their November 2025 meeting and officially began his tenure Dec. 9.

The Central Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association represents more than 75 police departments across the region and focuses on professional development, education and collaboration among law enforcement agencies.

DiGiovanni has worked at Quinsigamond Community College since 2008. He became the college’s first full-time detective in 2014, was promoted to deputy chief of police operations in 2015, and was named chief of police in February 2024.

“I am humbled and honored to be trusted in this position, and I am fortunate to be among some of the best police chiefs in the Commonwealth,” DiGiovanni said in the announcement. “It’s inspiring to be part of a network of leaders who support and learn from one another.”

College officials described DiGiovanni’s election as a milestone for both QCC and the association, reflecting the growing role of campus police departments in regional public safety leadership.
