Railers launch ‘October Overtime’ to boost local nonprofits

Fans can nominate nonprofits for a $5,000 donation and help choose the winner

WORCESTER—The Worcester Railers Hockey Club is giving fans a chance to have a say in where the team directs its next big community donation.

The team announced “October Overtime,” a new initiative that invites fans to nominate a nonprofit organization for the chance to receive $5,000. Four finalists will be chosen, with the winner determined through a fan vote beginning Oct. 8.

“We’re proud to offer our fans the ability to make a difference and be active participants in the Railers Month of Giving,” Railers President Kim Golinski said in the announcement. “As a hockey club, we believe it is important to have our fans participate in our community first approach.”

The winning nonprofit receives $5,000 donation and be recognized during the Railers’ opening night game Oct. 18 against the Maine Mariners at the DCU Center.

Fans who submit nominations are also be entered to win a four-pack of tickets to the Oct. 18 home opener. Nominations open Oct. 1 through forms linked on the Railers’ social media accounts.

The initiative is an extension of the Railers’ “Month of Giving,” which focuses on community support and outreach.

The team’s 2025–26 season kicks off with back-to-back games at the DCU Center, Oct. 18 against Maine and Oct. 19 against the Adirondack Thunder.
