WORCESTER—A Worcester County Grand Jury has indicted a Shrewsbury man on charges including murder in the August 2025 shooting death of 56-year-old Kevin Doherty near Jordan Pond, according to a statement from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Snehal Srivastava, 26, of Shrewsbury, was indicted on counts of murder, intimidation of a witness, possession of a firearm not at home or work, and vandalism. He was arraigned Tuesday in Worcester County Superior Court and ordered held without bail. The case is next set for Jan. 8, 2025, the DA’s office said.

According to police, they received a 911 call from Doherty shortly before 9 a.m. on Aug. 28, 2025. Doherty reported an altercation with another individual on a pathway beside Jordan Pond. During the call, telecommunicators “heard what appeared to be gunshots,” after which Doherty stopped responding, the release said.

Srivastava was located a short time later inside a nearby residence, according to the statement, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police STOP Team, the State Police Air Wing, and State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

He was first arraigned in Westborough District Court on Aug. 29, 2025, on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and carrying a firearm without a license. He was later arraigned on a murder charge and has remained in custody since, the DA’s office said.
