WORCESTER—Here we go again. Everyone knows the drill, but officials are reminding residents anyway.
With a snowstorm expected to hit the region, the city has declared a winter parking ban starting at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, to ensure streets remain clear for plows and emergency vehicles.
All municipal parking garages—excluding the Major Taylor Garage—offer free parking beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday until the ban is lifted. Event rates still apply for special events. The available garages include:
- Federal Plaza Garage – 570 Main St.
- Pearl & Elm Garage – 20 Pearl St.
- Worcester Common Garage – 3 Eaton Place
- Union Station Garage – 225 Franklin St.
During the parking ban, parking is prohibited on either side of main roads, emergency routes, and downtown streets critical to traffic flow. On all other streets, parking is only allowed on the odd-numbered side unless otherwise posted. Residents can check for specific street regulations at worcesterma.gov.
Towing and ticketing will be enforced to clear the roads. Residents with questions can contact Worcester 311 by dialing 3-1-1, emailing 311@worcesterma.gov, or visiting worcesterma.gov/311.
Live agents will be available Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while requests can be submitted via email and the 311 app at any time. Residents looking to locate a towed vehicle should also contact Worcester 311.
Motorists are urged to limit travel and use extra caution on the roads. Residents must clear sidewalks of snow and ice within 10 hours of the storm’s end and are asked to help clear fire hydrants and catch basins.
