In collaboration with United Way chapters in North and South Central Massachusetts, a $1.18 million grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) was secured to support these initiatives.
This funding, in place since spring 2022, aims to provide enriching educational opportunities for students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, with programs tailored to academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and career readiness.
The grants support a range of programs, including Worcester Public Schools’ SPARK Extended Day Program and the Uhai Project’s Future Leaders and Innovators Academy, expanding access and providing financial assistance to families in need.
In total, 2,757 students will benefit from these dynamic programs, which are designed to inspire and empower youth by fostering key developmental skills.
Tim Garvin, president and CEO of United Way of Central Massachusetts, said in a statement, “The United Way is honored to champion these initiatives, empowering our youth to unlock their full potential and contribute meaningfully to our community.”
