Veterans given first preference in affordable housing lottery

Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester opens applications for two-bedroom Worcester condo

WORCESTER—Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester is offering an affordable homeownership opportunity in Worcester for a qualified veteran family.

The available property is a 991-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium at 11 Gibbs St., Unit 20B, Worcester. The maximum sale price is listed at $167,200, with estimated completion in August 2025.

According to a press release, “veteran families will take first preference, with bedroom need being the secondary preference.”

To qualify, applicants must meet 2025 Area Median Income (AMI) guidelines of 30-60%, adjusted annually by HUD/FHLBB. Income limits range from $26,200 for a single-person household to $74,820 for a family of four. Applicants must also be first-time homebuyers, have the ability to pay a monthly mortgage with assets under $75,000, and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Partner families are expected to complete 300 hours of “sweat equity” by building alongside Habitat and attend required information sessions.
