He was 69 years old.
Crowley’s passing was shared on the ski resort’s website.
“We are deeply saddened to share that David Crowley has passed away at home this morning,” Wachusett Mountain posted. “He was surrounded by the love of family. He lived a grand life and was blessed with the gift of so many friends and coworkers at Wachusett.”
Wachusett Mountain says it will dedicate the 2024-25 ski season to Crowley’s memory and the fight against PSP.
“David was bigger than life and he loved working at Wachusett and being a part of such a great family and experience,” the ski area posted. “It’s up to David Sr. now to work over the Snow Gods in our favor. He’s for sure on a trip of a lifetime.”
Crowley’s career in the ski industry spanned nearly 50 years. He was known for his blend of his outgoing personality, humor, intelligence, kindness and keen business sense – especially when it came to marketing strategies, events and promotions.
“His creativity and innovations were legendary in turning the mountain from a small local ski hill to one of the best known and most respected mid-sized ski resorts in the United States,” the ski area posted.
