WORCESTER— With golf season approaching, the WooSox Foundation is inviting fans, businesses, and community members to take part in one of its largest annual fundraisers — the sixth annual Rich Gedman Golf Tournament, scheduled for May 26 in Boylston.
The WooSox Foundation’s sixth annual Rich Gedman Golf Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, at the Haven Country Club in Boylston, with registration now open for participants and sponsors, according to a release announcing the event.
The tournament, the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, supports college scholarships for Worcester Public Schools students through the WooSox Scholars program. Net proceeds from this year’s event help fund $10,000 scholarships awarded to eighth graders, an initiative the foundation launched in 2020.
Since its inception, the WooSox Scholars program has selected 20 students and committed $200,000 in scholarships, with the Class of 2026 — bringing the total to 24 students — scheduled to be announced in June, according to the release.

Foursomes for the May 26 tournament are available for $1,600, while organizations can sponsor a hole for $250. A $125 WEPA ticket offers raffle entries, mulligans, and participation in on-course activities. The raffle will include memorabilia, experiences, and other items donated by local businesses and organizations, the release states.
Registration includes 18 holes of golf, cart fees, a barbecue lunch, dinner reception, and two complimentary drink tickets per golfer. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a noon shotgun start in a traditional scramble format. Dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by dessert and coffee, with a cash bar available, according to the release.
The Rich Gedman Golf Tournament benefits the WooSox Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Worcester Red Sox, which focuses its charitable work on education, social justice, conquering cancer, and youth sports, while also supporting mental health, veterans, frontline workers, pets and the arts.
Fans and organizations interested in participating or sponsoring the event can and should register.
