WORCESTER—A Worcester man with a prior conviction for child sexual abuse offenses was sentenced this month to 12 years in federal prison after authorities found hundreds of files depicting child sexual abuse material on his cellphone, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Andres DeJesus, 66, was sentenced Feb. 4 in U.S. District Court in Boston by Judge Richard G. Stearns. He previously pleaded guilty in October 2025 to one count of possession of child pornography, according to the federal announcement.

Prosecutors said DeJesus was arrested Aug. 8, 2025, after arriving at Logan International Airport from the Dominican Republic. He had been refused entry into that country because of his status as a registered sex offender, authorities said.

Upon his return to Boston, officials searched his luggage and found children’s clothing and a large quantity of chocolate and other sweets, according to the release. A zip file on his cellphone contained three videos depicting child sexual abuse material. A subsequent forensic examination uncovered at least 600 images, authorities said.

DeJesus has a prior conviction in Middlesex County Superior Court. In 2010, he was found guilty of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, possession of child pornography and posing or exhibiting a child in a sexual act, and was sentenced to eight years to eight years and one day in state prison, according to federal officials.

In addition to the 12-year prison term, DeJesus will serve five years of supervised release following his incarceration, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
