WORCESTER—A Worcester student is being recognized for academic achievement at one of the nation’s top public universities.

Mary Johnston-Medina, of Worcester, has been named to the Miami University fall 2025 President’s List, an honor reserved for students who rank in the top three percent of undergraduates within their academic division, according to a university press release.

The President’s List is awarded each semester to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance, placing Johnston-Medina among a select group of high-achieving undergraduates at the Ohio-based institution.

Miami University, located in Oxford, OH, is a public university founded in 1809 and enrolls more than 22,600 undergraduate students and approximately 2,200 graduate students. The university is consistently ranked among the nation’s top 50 public universities by U.S. News & World Report, according to the release, and is known for combining broad academic offerings with smaller-classroom instruction.

The university offers more than 100 undergraduate areas of study and 78 graduate degree programs, with additional campuses in Hamilton and Middletown, a learning center in West Chester, and a European study center in Luxembourg. Miami University also contributes an estimated $2.3 billion annually to Ohio’s economy through partnerships and job creation, the release stated.

Johnston-Medina’s recognition reflects academic excellence beyond Worcester, placing her among students nationwide earning top marks at their institutions.
