Worcester’s Stephen Nedoroscik is an Olympian.
A 2016 Worcester Tech graduate, Nedoroscik was named to the United States men’s gymnastics team on Saturday.
Nedoroscik will compete in the pommel horse in Paris next month.
The four-time national champion and former world champion earned a spot on the U.S. team during this weekend’s Olympic Trials in Minneapolis.
Nedoroscik grew up in Worcester’s Indian Lake neighborhood and got his start in the sport at the Sterling Academy of Gymnastics.
“I had a good feeling I made this team,” Nedoroscik told NBC News after being named to his first Olympic roster.
Nedoroscik, a former all-American at Penn State, will be joined on the U.S. team by Frederick Richard, Brody Malone, Paul Juda and Asher Hong. The alternates are Shane Wiskus and Khoi Young.
The U.S. team is favored to win its first medal since 2008.
