WORCESTER—Worcester residents have a chance to shape the future of their city by providing input on the Draft Community Preservation Program (CPP) Plan, which is now available for public review, officials announced Thursday.
The plan outlines the goals and priorities of the Community Preservation Program and serves as a guide for applicants seeking Community Preservation Act (CPA) funding. It was developed by the CPP and the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) using input from community groups, existing city plans, public forums, and an online survey.
Residents are encouraged to give feedback on the plan through the Community Preservation Plan feedback form, which remains open until Thursday, March 6.
A public hearing is scheduled for March 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Levi Lincoln Chamber at City Hall. The meeting includes an overview of the plan, a review of feedback received, and an opportunity for additional public comment. Virtual participation will also be available.
Worcester adopted the CPA in 2022, establishing a special Community Preservation Fund. Supported by a 1.5 percent property tax surcharge and a state match, the fund is expected to generate more than $4 million annually to support community housing, recreation, open space, and historic preservation projects.
