WORCESTER— For Worcester students hoping to turn classroom lessons into real-world impact, a relaunched city internship program could be their ticket in.
The Division of Public Health just relaunched its Academic Health Collaborative, opening up flexible, hands-on internships for students and recent graduates interested in careers in public health.
The program runs each spring, summer, and fall, and is designed to prepare the next generation of health professionals to meet the workforce needs of Worcester and beyond. Participants will gain practical experience in areas such as community health assessments, policy research, data analysis, environmental health initiatives, and emergency preparedness.
“The Academic Health Collaborative is a reminder that leadership is not inherited—it is cultivated,” WDPH Director Tamara Lundi said in a statement. “By investing in the growth of future leaders while empowering the leaders of now, we plant seeds of innovation, equity, and hope that will shape the health of Worcester for generations to come.”
The collaborative is a partnership with local academic institutions and the city’s Department of Health & Human Services, offering students opportunities for teaching, research, and service. Interns will work closely with public health staff and community partners, while also receiving mentorship and professional development through guest speakers, project presentations, and networking.
More information, including application details, is available on the Academic Health Collaborative’s website or by contacting Engle Torres at Torrese@worcesterma.gov.
