Looking for a way to escape the holiday heat without spending a fortune?
Bank of America customers get in free to Worcester’s EcoTarium this weekend as part of the bank’s nationwide Museums on Us program, which offers complimentary access to hundreds of museums and cultural institutions across the country during the first full weekend of every month.
The offer coincides with the Independence Day holiday and comes as the nation begins marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. According to the announcement, Bank of America is expanding the program to help customers “experience and engage with America’s history and culture” during the semiquincentennial celebration.
For Worcester residents, the local attraction is the EcoTarium, which opens on its normal holiday schedule from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 4. The museum features science and nature exhibits, the Alden Planetarium, its popular narrow-gauge train and a variety of live wildlife.
Under the Museums on Us program, eligible Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank credit or debit cardholders receive free general admission by presenting an eligible card along with a valid photo ID.

While the EcoTarium is the closest participating museum for Central Massachusetts residents, several other Massachusetts attractions are also taking part in the program over the holiday weekend, including the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House in Concord, the New Bedford Whaling Museum and The Mount, Edith Wharton’s historic estate in Lenox.
The Museums on Us program is offered during the first full weekend of each month, giving eligible cardholders an opportunity to visit participating museums at no cost throughout the year.
