Here are five picks of things to do in Worcester this weekend:
- This guy is really funny—truly: Sarcastic, a little cranky, but funny as heck, poet/performer/writer Joe Fusco Jr. is putting on an evening of humor and poetry at Root and Press Cafe on Thursday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m. Fusco Jr’s reading from and signing copies of his new book “Random Thoughts from a Curmudgeon.”
- Sammy’s back in town: It’s been a bit since our boy Sam James has a show lined up in Worcester proper. But the poppy singer-songwriter has one lined up on Saturday at Off the Rails. The show’s early, too, so you can get home in time to watch the evening news, or reruns of “Forensic Files.”
- Little Women at the Hanover: Based on Louisa May Alcott’s life, “Little Women The Broadway Musical” follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March, with shows at the Hanover Theatre on Friday through Sunday. Check out the times and ticket prices, and a whole lot more about the show, here.
- Mostly grunge with some done dirt cheap side orders: At Ralph’s Rock Diner on Saturday, the Ultimate Stone Temple Pilots Experience obviously pays tribute to the Stone Temple Pilots. Joining them are Nothingsafe, which plays a set of Alice in Chains hits, and High Voltage, rocking out the AC/DC.
- How they wish you were here: High Hopes, a tribute to David Gilmour and Pink Floyd, is getting comfortably numb at Black Sheep Bah-Bah-Q and Kitchen on Saturday, March 23. High Hopes plays a mix of everything you’d expect a Floyd tribute to play, but some obscurities, too.
