WORCESTER—Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) has been awarded a $12,500 grant from the Greater Worcester Community Foundation (GWCF) to strengthen its Bridges to College program, which supports students preparing for college-level math and English, the school announced recently.
The non-credit Bridges to College program provides foundational instruction to help students succeed in credit-bearing classes. Dean of College & Career Pathways, Carol King, highlighted the program’s success rates: 93 percent of math students and 88 percent of English students progressed to and passed college-level classes.
The program includes comprehensive support, from tutoring and counseling to food pantry access, all coordinated by case managers who offer personalized guidance to incoming students. According to Director of Mentoring and Special Programs Kalan Lewis, the program fosters a “sense of belonging” that encourages students to connect with QCC resources.
This grant, according to QCC, furthers its commitment to educational accessibility and preparedness, helping students not only meet academic challenges but also navigate the college experience with confidence.
