WORCESTER—A Worcester County grand jury has indicted a Charlton woman in connection with a 2024 crash that left one woman dead and three others seriously injured, according to an announcement from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Aphrodite Papoutsides, 28, was indicted Nov. 14 on charges that include involuntary manslaughter, manslaughter while operating under the influence, multiple counts of motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, operating under the influence and reckless driving.
The charges stem from a Sept. 21, 2024, collision on Southbridge Road (Route 169) near Carpenter Hill Road in Charlton. Authorities said a Mercedes driven by Papoutsides struck a Honda carrying four people. The Honda’s driver, 51-year-old Leah S. Forrester of Worcester, died from her injuries. Three passengers in the vehicle were also seriously hurt.
Papoutsides was first arraigned in Dudley District Court two days after the crash on charges including motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation and reckless driving. The indictments transfer the case to Worcester Superior Court, where she is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
