WORCESTER— The Worcester Public Library Foundation honors two local champions of literacy and community service at its 2024 annual meeting. Congressman James P. McGovern will receive the Dr. Richard E. Greene Founders Award for his long-standing efforts to protect public libraries and promote access to books and education, while Timothy Loew will be recognized with the Dr. William F. and Betty O’Neil Service Award for his impactful leadership on the library’s Board of Trustees.
The event not only celebrates these honorees but also to showcase new initiatives, including a vibrant art installation designed to welcome all Worcester residents.
The event will feature a brief business meeting that includes the President’s Report, approval of new board members, and updates on the state of both the foundation and the library.

The project is designed to enhance the library’s Salem Street façade, inspiring community connection.

The annual meeting takes place on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Worcester Public Library, 3 Salem Square.
